Founder of the Special Group of Companies — Special Ice water and beverages, one of the largest indigenous real estate portfolios in the country, and a co-owner of UTV, one of Ghana's most watched television stations.
Ernest Ofori Sarpong built the Special Group of Companies over three decades, moving from trading into manufacturing and property. Special Ice Company produces a large share of the bottled water and beverages sold in Ghana; Special Investments holds one of the biggest indigenously owned real estate portfolios in the country, including the Special Gardens development.
With Osei Kwame Despite he co-owns United Television, among the most watched free-to-air stations in Ghana, and Best Point Savings and Loans, which was on the Bank of Ghana's list of institutions in good standing when the regulator revoked the licences of twenty-three insolvent savings and loans companies in August 2019. He is one of the few Ghanaian industrialists whose own name is as widely known as the products.
