He founded the African Brothers Band in 1963 and wrote hundreds of songs that used proverb and parable to say things about Ghana that plain speech could not.
Born in March 1945, Nana Kwame Ampadu was lead singer, chief songwriter and founder of the African Brothers Band, formed in 1963.
His songs worked by allegory, which is part of why they survived several governments intact. He died in Accra in September 2021.
