The Mission of NDPC

Our mission is to advise the President of the Republic on deve­lopment planning policy and stra­tegy by providing a national development policy framework and ensuring that strategies including consequential policies and pro-grammes are effectively carried out to enhance the well-being and living standards of all Ghanaians on a sustainable basis.

Performance Reports

Performance of the Commission in 2006

The major achievements of the NDPC include the following:

Facilitating the process of developing, harmonizing,monitoring & evaluation of the implementation of Sector and District Medium Term Development Plans based on the GPRS II by issuing technical guidelines for:

  1. The preparation of District Medium-Term Development Plans and training about 1,770 members of the District Planning Coordinating Units (DPCUs) and the Regional Planning Coordinating Units (RPCUs) on its use
  2. The preparation of Sector Medium-Term Development Plans (2006-2009) and training about 200 officials of the MDAs on their use
  3. The preparation of sector monitoring & evaluation plans
  4. The preparation of district monitoring & evaluation plans
  5. Coordinating the selection of outcome-based indicators for monitoring and evaluating the performance of GPRS II
  6. Preparation of the 2005 Annual Progress Report on the implementation of the GPRS I
  7. Undertaking Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation of the GPRS I using citizens report card to assess citizens perception of the quality of service delivery to the poor
  8. Training members of the RPCUs in all the ten (10) Regions as well as tertiary and research institutions and other users of planning data on the use of the GhanaInfo as the national socio-economic database.
  9. Dissemination of Poverty and Social Impact Assessment(PSIA) Reports on Decentralization, Transformation of the Agriculture Sector and the Vulnerable and Excluded
  10. Dissemination of GPRS II to stakeholders, at the national regional & district levels including organized groups and at the grassroots in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and National Orientation  of the GPRS I
  11. Initiation of the process towards the formulation of a Long-Term National Development Plan including a Spatial Framework to ensure balanced and equitable development of the country
